Spot’s First Walk

Eric Hill

There are various Spot the Dog books that are endless fun for small children, who love to guess what is hidden behind a mystery door.  This book is called Spot’s First Walk and follows the same format as the other opening flap books in the Picture Puffins Series, in that it has a hidden picture on every page.  This book was first published in 1981.

It has colour, mystery, guess work, a cute dog, suspense and surprise.  Its great to see your child try to guess or remember what is hidden behind the nine opening flaps throughout the book.

Spot the Dog goes exploring on his own for the first time in the garden and finds lots of new things hidden behind the various shaped flaps on each page.  He looks behind a fence, in the shed, in the chicken hutch, up a tree, in the flower bed, the vegetable patch, in the ground and a pond which he falls in and comes home wet.

Easy to handle sized book for small children so they can open the mystery flap on every page by themselves.  It can be lots of fun reading this to small children who can share the enjoyment of interacting with the book more closely, than just looking at the pictures.
